"I’ve just completed the Oct to Dec 2011 beginners boot camp (6am session) at Frank Kitts park (as in just got home from my final session). What inspired me to do something like boot camp? My health specialists have clearly identified me as a candidate for several preventable health issues not to mention I am an obese, unfit Maori male in my late 40’s (the statistics are not looking good). I also watched a TV programme in Oct by the ‘one heart, many lives’ campaign on Iron Maori. Wow – that was hugely inspiring and a wake-up call to take responsibility for my own health. After searching through many options, this boot camp idea really appealed to me (not everyone’s cuppa tea I know). This is when you have to be honest with yourself and find what really does it for you. This time I’ve struck a winning combination of training time, location, ‘amazing’ support from the others, and of course an excellent instructor who really gets to know you and how to motivate you. For me a sense of humour certainly works and just the right amount. My final session was a fitness test and I have certainly improved heaps. I walked home feeling proud of my efforts and thinking what to do next – moderate to advanced, blitz or another beginners – my health, my choice and I certainly know where I started.....at boot camp. Awesome!"

Was great to be part of this – definitely saw the improvements in my fitness.
